Installation Notes for WebSufer and Shockwave. Please note that this 32 bit version of WebSurfer is for Windows95 and Windows NT only. Please do not attempt to install on Windows 3.1 Installing WebSurfer: 1. Run the setup program for WebSurfer found in this directory. The setup program is "setup.exe" 2. It is recommended you select the default directory location for installation which is c:\netmanag.95 3. After installing WebSurfer, reboot your system and launch the application to verify that your installation completed successfully. 4. Exit WebSurfer. When you exit the first time, please SAVE the configuration when prompted. Now you are ready to install the Shockwave plug-in: 5. Run the Shockwave setup program to install Shockwave on your system. This is a separate program provided by MacroMedia. When you get to the panel showing Destination Directory, hit the BROWSE button. Navigate to c:\netmanag.95 and select OK. (or the directory name where you installed Websurfer if you did not use the default location.) Continue with the setup program to completion. Your WebSurfer installation now is ready for viewing "Shocked" web sites! Special Notes: a. If you do not have Chameleon 5.0 or later installed on your system then you will not be able to launch any of the Chameleon applications listed on the Tools menu. b. Also, the HTML Tag Type Mailto: links are not supported unless you are also running Chameleon 5.0 Mail. c. Both the Windows95 and WindowsNT versions require ctl3d32.dll be located in your system directory. In most cases, this file is already present. If you receive an error at launch indicating that Websurfer could not find ctl3d32.dll, you may download from the NetManage ftp site and place it in your system directory. Windows95 ftp://ftp.netmanage.com/pub/demos/websurfer/w95_system/ctl3d32.dll - Place in "C:\windows\system". WindowsNT ftp://ftp.netmanage.com/pub/demos/websurfer/nt_system/ctl3d32.dll - Place in "C:\windows\system32". These files are NOT interchangable; you may experience problems if you try to use the wrong version for your OS. d. To view which plugins have been installed on your system, in Websurfer go to the Settings/Preferences menu item, then select the "Viewers" tab.
